Batman: Arkham Origins Wii U Confirmed

To the batcave, kids!

Earlier this year, we learned that Warner Bros. planned to release another Batman Arkham title this year, and we’ve been waiting ever since to hear whether it would hit the Wii U. It will, and it’s happening on October 25th of this year.

Batman: Arkham Origins  will also release on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360. The game is under development by WB Montreal, who was responsible for bringing Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition to the Wii U.

This new Batman game sees the caped crusader a few years earlier than the previous games, as he meets some familiar enemies for the first time. The bad news is, eight assassins have headed to Gotham City to kill our hero… and it’s Christmas Eve.

There will also be a 3DS spin-off called Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, which is being described as a “2.5 Metroid-style game”, and it releases on the same date. If you’re playing the games sequentially, the 3DS/PS Vita title’s story chronologically falls after the home console and is being developed by Armature Studios.

Now, this likely isn’t the end of Rocksteady Studios’ work on this series, but we’re hearing that WB Montreal may take turns exchanging priority work with their office in the UK, allowing  a new entry annually without rushing or draining the creative minds behind the work.

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
