Sequel to Stealth Inc. Will Be Wii U Exclusive

Fans of Stealth Inc: A Clone in the Dark will be excited to hear that Curve Studios is working on a sequel to their popular download title! And here’s the really interesting thing… it’ll be a Wii U exclusive.

The original game was first released for PC with a title that we don’t care to repeat here, and it was downloaded over a million times across all the platforms we saw it on. Notably, neither of those platforms were the Wii U or the 3DS. It seemed strange at the time, considering Curve Studios has worked with Nintendo on a number of occasions in the past.

Curve CEO Jason Perkins talked to Joystiq about Nintendo and Curve’s relationship back when the original Stealth Inc. game was released:

“We’ve got a good relationship with Nintendo. Really enjoyed working with them. They originally got in contact when we were just on the verge of launching the first one. We were too far along the line with Sony, but got back to them and said, ‘Look, here’s an opportunity, how about that?’ Then in terms of the hardware and the opportunities with something like the GamePad as well, it was really quite exciting.”

All we’re seeing of the new game is concept art, but it’s been confirmed that Stealth Inc 2 will show off new features in gameplay (such as off-TV play with the GamePad, and co-op in campaign mode). It’s also been mentioned by the game creator, Jonathan Biddle, that the company is taking some of the ideas of their previous games, to apply them to this title:

“We’ve got a really rich dynamic. It’s taking some of the stuff we did with Fluidity which was a Metroid-style game where you had to go and find puzzles in order to progress, and twinning with it the more focused test chamber stuff we had in 3DS Fluidity and Stealth Inc. It’s going to be interesting, it’s almost like two complimentary game styles.”

Looking forward to this? The game should be released this year, as long as all goes according to plan.

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
