Yes, Watch Dogs Will Be On Wii U… In the Fall

So, after you’ve played Watch Dogs on every other platform in the known universe… you’ll have a chance to play it on the Wii U. Oh yeah, who’s excited?

In an announcement perhaps most surprising of all, Ubisoft has reconfirmed their vague “Fall 2014” release window for the game on Nintendo’s console, and they’re insisting that the game is still being worked on as we type this. Look, even an official PR communication said as much:

“Watch Dogs will also be released on the Wii U system from Nintendo in Fall 2014.”

Thanks, Ubisoft. Now, before you get down on the game, consider this—the new IP has sold like crazy, boosting PS4 sales by 94% in some reports, and has become “the game” in an otherwise bland and barren gaming year (thus far). It can’t be denied that Ubisoft has another hit series on their hands, but we can’t help but wonder whether the game can possibly be a big seller on the Wii U.

It’s hitting the Wii U so bloody long after it’s been out on other consoles—and will be based on the PS3 and 360 scaled-back versions of the game—that it won’t be a surprise if folks think, “why bother?”

If it’s on your radar to play on the Wii U, great! If it’s not, well, we can say we blame you.

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
