Hatsune Miku Coming to North America

It’s time to bring Japanese pop vocals to your 3DS, North America! With 2.5 Hatsune Miku games sold on Japan’s shores, Sega is ready to bring its futuristic, voice synth game to the west. The famous franchise will land here as Hatsune Miku: Project MIRAI Remix… maybe. Evidently Sega isn’t sure about the title, but one way or another, it’ll arrive here in 2015.

The western version of this 3DS title will be an “enhanced” edition of Hatsune Miku: Project MIRAI 2 (Japanese title), and it will use everything from the AR camera to the autostereoscopic 3D display, to StreetPass.

Hatsune Miku is a program that allows players to create vocals from the ground up, regardless of your musical talent, by entering some lyrics and a melody… and as bizarre as that sounds, the Hatsune Miku brand has been strong since its entrance to the global sphere back in 2007.

The games have showed up on Sega’s products (Playstation 3, PSP, PS Vita) and iOS, and have heavily relied on its title character. Strange as it may sound, the games have global popularity, but haven’t yet tried to crack the North American marketplace.

Since there’s still plenty of work to be done on the game, there’s no release date yet, but we’ll certainly keep you posted.

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
