Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker Not Just Another eShop Release

When you first heard about Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, you probably had the same reaction we did… “what the?!?!” Was this really a full game? How were they going to turn this spin-off of a mini-game into a full-fledged game experience?

Well, reports are coming in from the various corners of the internet that it’s not such a bad little title after all. There are boss fights, mine cart levels, and other fun features to this puzzle game, and to everyone’s surprise, it’s not going to just be an eShop download.

Nope, this is going to be a mid-tier Wii U retail title, currently positioned at the $39.99 price point on various pre-order pages online. This figures it at the same level and value as a game like Game & Wario, which also launched at this price point.

The $39.99 price is about two-thirds of the standard price for a full priced retail release, so while it’s not a budget title, it’s not going to completely break the bank. Whether, in the end, it will be worth the value placed on it remains to be seen.

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
