Xenoblade Chronicles 3D in April on New Nintendo 3DS

While Japan got the announcement and release of Wii RPG classic Xenoblade Chronicles 3D alongside the release of the New Nintendo 3DS last year, we were left waiting and waiting for any news that the game might hit North America in the future.

Today’s Nintendo Direct has confirmed that we’ll actually be seeing the game this year, sometime in April in North America. The port for the game will be done by American studio Monster Games, who you may know as having ported Donkey Kong Country Returns to the 3DS.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D will be a New Nintendo 3DS exclusive, so don’t get too excited if you aren’t planning to buy this new hardware. The bottom screen will be a map, and you’ll have a special mode to view the game’s 3D models from any angles.

As far as we know, this is the first New Nintendo 3DS exclusive title, and the first game that requires the New handheld system to run. Perhaps this will make your decision for you? Check out the trailer below… that might be your tipping point.

Faith likes games and books and cake and writing and Lara Croft, not necessarily in that order. She also thinks a Skylanders cartoon show is a really, REALLY good idea...
