Reggie Wants Binding of Isaac on Nintendo Consoles

Later this year, we’ll see The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth on the Wii U and 3DS consoles… but apparently this has been a rather long time in the making. If you recall, the game was teased for Nintendo consoles all the way back in 2012, but Nintendo’s opposition to it on the grounds of “questionable religious content” meant it might never actually happen.

Over the past few years, we’ve seen Nintendo make some shifts in regard to indies and “mature” games on their consoles, paving the way for Binding of Isaac to finally come aboard.

But here’s where things get really interesting. It’s no secret that Nintendo’s former indie guy, Dan Adelman, really wanted the game to come to Nintendo, but he’s not the only one! Binding of Isaac creator Edmund McMillen revealed that Nintendo of America’s very own head honcho Reggie Fils-Aime has been vocal about wanting the game on Nintendo too! And this goes all the way back to 2012, when the first rejection letters were sent by Nintendo.

This may be part of the reason why we’re finally seeing the game on Wii U and 3DS—after all, if Reggie likes it, certainly his voice has continued to be heart—and it’s a big sign that someone like Reggie is on the inside and pushing for games like this on Nintendo’s platforms.

Who knows where this will take them next!

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
