3DS Software Patch Coming for NFC Reader Compatibility

It’s almost time to start bringing your amiibo in your other pocket along with your 3DS, because Nintendo is going to launch its NFC Reader/Writer accessory for the regular (ie. not “New”) 3DS consoles in Japan this Thursday! Naturally, that means any game that’s NFC compatible needs an update to support the device.

The device will arrive in North America on September 25th, so we’ll have a little while longer to wait. However, it’ll be worth it since the older 3DS models will be able to use amiibo in-game as well as the upcoming amiibo cards that will released with Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.

Are you playing any amiibo-compatible games? Or have you been waiting for this device before giving them a shot? Here are the games with patch updates released this week: Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy +, Code Name: S.T.E.A.M., Fire Emblem If, and One Piece: Super Grand Battle! X.

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
