PAX Prime 2015: Nintendo’s “Nindies” Lounge & Playable Games

In just a few days, thousands of gamers will be converging on Seattle’s downtown core, eager to try out new games and experience the phenomenon known as PAX Prime. With tickets sold out almost as soon as they went on sale, this is an event that can provide a huge promotional boost for games—especially indie titles.

Nintendo of America is once again stepping up to the plate with a huge presence planned, including a Xenoblade Chronicles X panel with members of the Treehouse localisation team (Aug. 29th, 2:30-3:30pm in Wyvern Theatre). At the panel, attendees will be able to ask questions in Q & A, check out concept art and new game play.

The bad news for Xenoblade fans is that Xenoblade Chronicles X won’t be playable on the show floor, despite the showing in Gamescom recently. But, here are the retail titles that will be playable in the Nintendo booth:

  • Chibi-Robo!: Zip Lash
  • Skylanders SuperChargers Racing
  • Splatoon
  • Star Fox Zero
  • Super Mario Maker
  • Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
  • The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes

And as has become the norm for Nintendo, there’ll be some contests and interactive events to participate in to earn prizes. You can obtain these by playing Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, and Pokémon Omega Ruby / Alpha Sapphire.

But wait, there’s more! There’s going to be tons of eShop support in the form of a “Nindies” event! This will manifest in a few ways, first by a pre-PAX event at the EMP Museum in Seattle from 8pm-midnight, and then again in the Nindies Lounge at the Sheaton Seattle, just across the street from the WSCC.

There will be 13 games and their developers at this showcase, and attendees can head on in to play the games, chat with the game creators, and maybe find a new favorite! While some games will already be familiar to players, there are a few games for which the Nindies event will be their first time out in public.

Here’s the list!

  • Action Henk (Curve Digital)
  • The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (Nicalis, Inc.)
  • FAST Racing Neo (Shin’en)
  • Freedom Planet (Galaxy Trail)
  • Hive Jump (Graphite Lab)
  • Mutant Mudds Super Challenge (Renegade Kid)
  • Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty (Oddworld Inhabitants, Inc. / Just Add Water (Developments) Ltd. / Nephilim Games)

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
