Super Mario Maker has had a little more time to settle into its debut week in Japan than the game has on these shores, and as a result it claimed the top position on the Media Create Sales charts out of Japan. The platformer moved out 138-242 copies during its first week.
But that’s not even the most exciting news—on the hardware charts in Japan, the arrival of Super Mario Maker caused Wii U sales to double its weekly sales total. This past week saw over 20,000 Wii U systems sold, compared to the 10,000 system sales of the week prior.
It’ll be interesting to see how sales increases compare in North America, since we also have the Super Mario Maker Wii U bundle that may encourage some folks to go all-in on the system if they were previously wavering about the decision.
