Sonic the Hedgehog’s Special 25th Anniversary Logo

Yes, that’s correct…it’s been twenty-five years since Sonic the Hedgehog first made his appearance in his self-titled game on the Sega Genesis. Remember those days? It was Mario vs. Sonic, and it seemed almost criminal to like both of them. It was always one or the other—the rivalry was fierce among fans, and among the game companies too, really.

To celebrate this milestone, SEGA has released a special logo that they’ll be using throughout the year in celebration of the 25th anniversary. Right now, the only known plans for the blue hedgehog is the upcoming Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice title, though we do know that SEGA is hoping to take Sonic back to his “roots” in future ventures. Will we see any of that this year? Who knows!

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
