Nintendo NY Reopening Day Details

For a few weeks now, the Nintendo World Store has been closed while it remodels in order to rebrand itself as Nintendo NY, with a brand new floorplan and new displays. The store will reopen on February 19th, and some official details have been announced for the day:

“When the store opens to the public at noon, there will be a series of activities, including giveaways, like exclusive Splatoon art created by the developers of the hit game (while supplies last), and appearances by costumed characters like Mario and Luigi. The store will also sell exclusive souvenirs that can only be purchased that weekend, including a limited-edition T-shirt featuring Mario or Link. Fans who want to try out some of Nintendo’s latest games are in luck, as new and upcoming Wii U and Nintendo 3DS games will be available to play.”

Before the public are allowed inside, there will be a media hour from 9am-10am. At noon, Mario will be there to cut the ribbon—as one might expect.

As a reminder, the new store will feature many additional Wii U and 3DS demo stations, as well as a 15-foot gaming screen. The entrance will have a lovely, bronze floor decoration of a coin, with information about the store and Nintendo’s history.
