We’ve been reporting on the strange creature that is Mighty No.9 since its very inception at PAX Prime several years ago. It was the game that smashed all the Kickstarter records and went far beyond its goal target, and after some delays was expected to finally launch last September.
That date came and went, and then we heard “early 2016.” That date has come and gone, as well as the projected February target, and creator Keiji Inafune issued a public apology.
Then we heard Spring, which we’re sitting in the midst of…and still no solid release date.
A quick jaunt around the internet shows that no one seems to have any idea what’s happening, and Comcept and Deep Silver have both been silent about the situation. They’ve said nothing. They’ve responded to nothing. And when Deep Silver finally appeared to have been fed up by the nagging and issued a statement, all they said was: “We have no comments at this time. You’ll be the first to know once we have new information to share.”
Hmm. What does this mean? Trouble in paradise? Or simply routine issues that’ll be worked out? No one can say at this point, it seems. No one is willing to say…
