Pokémon GO Plus Commanding High Prices

Even though it’s not actually available for purchase at retail yet, the Pokémon GO Plus wearable device has turned into something of a hot item online. A while back, folks were able to pre-order the device, and subsequently began listing the items on eBay at outrageous prices.

Turns out that was a strategic move, because the device—which was originally supposed to launch this month but isn’t yet available—has been selling for upward of $100USD. That’s for an item that originally was listed for pre-order at $35USD!

The device is smallish, like a pin, with a Pokéball design. It connects to your phone through Bluetooth, and an embedded LED will pulse when you get close to a Pokémon or Pokéstop. Why would you want this? It avoids holding onto your phone at all times, which can get annoying—and apparently the device also allows you to capture Pokémon that you’ve previously run into, so you don’t even need to look at your phone some of the time.

If you placed a pre-order for this one, you’re golden…but if not, well, looks like you’ll be shelling out the big bucks unless there’s another wave of pre-orders taken in the future!

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
