Nintendo Reconfirms March 2017 as NX Launch Period

The annual report from Nintendo for 2016 has just been published, which means it’s time for everyone to scan the document for interesting tidbits, news, and rumor worthy material about the company’s future!

So, remember back in the day when Satoru Iwata used to discuss the Quality of Life initiative set by Nintendo? This has appeared in the report in the form of this little gem:

“Moreover, Nintendo is working on the development of a new product that improves people’s QOL (Quality of Life) in enjoyable ways. Nintendo’s aim is to enable consumers to make daily efforts to improve their QOL in a fun manner by making sleep and fatigue status visible and offering various services based on this information.”

Hmm…interesting. Reminds us of the high-end FitBit activity trackers, which also track sleep and heart rate. Could we see this as a detachable component or portable piece from Nintendo? There is no other info included on this, so it may not be part of the company’s release agenda until long after the NX.

However, what you’re here for is to hear this:

“Nintendo is also devoted to the development of a gaming platform codenamed “NX” with a brand-new concept, which will be launched in March 2017 globally.”

That’s right, folks—March 2017 is the planned release for the NX, confirmed by Nintendo in their annual report, which means we’re officially less than a year away from this mysterious new console. And now that the launch is official, will we start hearing more about it? We’ll keep our fingers crossed.
