Kingdom Hearts III for Nintendo Switch? It’s Not Off the Table

We’ve all grown old and decrepit waiting for Kingdom Hearts III, it’s true… but now, finally, Square Enix has dropped the news bomb stating this long-lost instalment (look, it feels that way, all right?) will in fact be released in 2018 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

The Nintendo Switch is noticeably absent from that list, hmm? Ah, but don’t worry—there has been a hint that Switch players might get their own version. But not until later.

Kingdom Hearts director Tetsuya Nomura spoke to IGN at D23 Expo this past weekend, saying this:

“The Nintendo Switch is definitely a very interesting piece of hardware, but if we lightly say, ‘Oh yeah, we’ll be on the Nintendo Switch,’ I’m sure people will come back and say, ‘But what about the PS4 and Xbox One? We want them out first. Don’t focus on other platforms,’ So for now, we want to focus on what platforms we’ve already announced we’re going to be releasing Kingdom Hearts III on. And so after, perhaps, maybe we can start thinking about other possibilities.

Okay, sure. What’s another century to wait after you’ve already waited a millennium for this game, hmm?

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
