Breaking News! Nintendo Switch eShop Adds Filters

As we compose this message, Nintendo Switch owners everywhere are booting up their system, heading to the eShop and bracing themselves for twenty minutes of confusing navigation… only to discover a system update that will change everything.

Okay, maybe not everything. But it sure will solve that annoying organizational problem of finding the game you’re looking for, or trying to browse for something that interests you. With 1300+ games on the Switch eShop and no functional way to search the titles… it’s been getting harder and harder to give Nintendo our money.

Evidently they’ve figured it out and have now provided easily accessed search filters: hit the “Search” button in the top left corner of the eShop, and you’ll be given a number of options; genre, price range, downloadable content, and even “software with demo available.” The regular keyword search is still available without change.

With the holiday season approaching and many more games coming—not to mention gift cards that will certainly be used on Christmas morning and the like—this is a welcome change, and probably a relief to game creators too.

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
