Originally released on the 3DS in 2013, the first Yo-Kai Watch game introduced players to a world of Yo-Kai and an inventive new battle mechanic—and in the six years since, there’ve been a series of titles released in Japan and the west. Yo-Kai Watch 4 was most recently released in Japan and has sold well enough to hit the top of the charts—a notable achievement, considering it was the first non-3DS title released so far.
And with the game set to release in the west in the not too distant future, Level-5 recognizes that there will likely be plenty of new fans taking a look at the series—and they may not have any prior knowledge about the games, and thus miss out on some of the aspects of the world that make it so memorable. The plan to help out with that is to release the original Yo-Kai Watch game on Switch later this year—a September 20th release.
