Nintendo Now Claims They’ll Fix Joy-Cons for Free

In a follow-up to Nintendo’s statement yesterday that they’re aware of the drifting issues with Joy-Cons, Vice Games has reportedly revealed internal documentation that Nintendo is now instructing their support service reps to offer free repairs for drifting Joy-Cons, and to also refund any customers who previously paid to have their defective controllers fixed.

The source who provided the information to Vice chose to remain anonymous due to their lack of authorization to reveal these details to the public, but they were familiar with Nintendo’s updated customer support policies and documentation.

“Customers will no longer be requested to provide proof of purchase for Joy-Con repairs. Additionally it is not necessary to confirm warranty status. If a customer requests a refund for a previously paid Joy-Con repair […] confirm the prior repair and then issue a refund.”

Remember, if you’re experiencing drift with your Joy-Cons, Nintendo’s statement yesterday advised Switch users to visit their support page for help:

“At Nintendo, we take great pride in creating quality products and we are continuously making improvements to them. We are aware of recent reports that some Joy-Con controllers are not responding correctly. We want our consumers to have fun with Nintendo Switch, and if anything falls short of this goal we always encourage them to visit so we can help.”

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
