Nintendo not fixing MarioKart 7 Glitch

If you’ve been playing the Maka Wuhu track in MarioKart 7 online, you might have noticed that some people magically cut 30 seconds off their time and jump into first.  That’s because of a glitch where right after the second set of flags you can boost into water and be recovered a substantial amount down the track.  Nintendo has stated that they won’t be fixing it, unfortunately.

Thanks for your patience in waiting for a response during this busy time of year. We are aware that it is possible to navigate a certain part of the track in Wuhu Island in a way that allows a large part of the course to be bypassed. There are no plans to update the game to remove this shortcut as doing so would create an unfair advantage for the users of the original release of the game. Rest assured your comments have been added to our records for Mario Kart 7.

Sincerely,

Buddy Roemer
Nintendo of America Inc.

Basically, because they can’t push out a mandatory patch to end users, they won’t update the code that they are printing onto cartridges, because it would give those of us who have already bought the game an unfair advantage.  Which is kind of an odd justification, if you ask me.  This just proves once again that Nintendo needs a way to push out updates.  First it was the fatal glitch in Skyward Sword, now this.  The Wii U had bloody well better be able to patch remotely….

Micah, you don’t happen to play as Koopa in the Soda Jet with mushroom wheels do you? Triple star ranking? Long shot I know, but If it was you, we just had a good couple of races online – Jay.
