Super Smash Brothers Melee + Brawl = Project M

A project that I had been peripherally aware of has hit a majour milestone, Demo 2.0.  Project M is what happened when huge fans of Super Smash Brothers Melee for the GameCube played Super Smash Brothers Brawl and decided that they didn’t really like all of the changes.  Instead of just complaining about it or asking Nintendo for changes, a small and dedicated group decided to do it themselves.

Project M has been an absolutely massive undertaking by a team of 20 who work daily on the project, which is freely available to anyone who has a 2gb SD card, a Wii and a retail copy of Super Smash Brothers Brawl.  It overhauls characters from balancing to move selection and seeks to reintroduce the faster-paced, more predictable play of Melee.

If you’re interested, take a look at the big write-up over at IGN.  For now, here’s the launch trailer for Demo 2.0.
