FIFA 13 Dribbles Into Wii U Launch

Yep, that’s right – we’re going to see FIFA 13 as a launch title for the Wii U, and it was announced at EA Summer Showcase. EA is building hype for the title by claiming it’s going to be the best FIFA we’ve ever seen on Nintendo hardware, based around the unique experience that the Wii U GamePad will be able to bring to the game.

The functionality of the GamePad with the title was shown at the Showcase, with things like an aerial view of the pitch when you lift up the controller, or using the touch screen to tap out a pass by touching the other player. You’ll also be able to use a “shake and shoot” feature, where players shake the GamePad to see the goal on-screen and thereby press where the shot should be aimed, creating a more accurate targeting system.

There’ll also be plenty of info for stats geeks, with tabs on the right side of the GamePad that you can either peruse at your disposal or ignore completely. You can also use these to sub players and change strategies in-game.

Apparently this FIFA title will be far more “immersive” than others we’ve seen, but don’t take our word for it… go shine up those cleats, and hold on for launch day!
