With the sluggish sales reports of the Wii U coming out of Nintendo headquarters, this isn’t exactly good news for the system’s wide appeal. Although TVii is one of the Wii U’s biggest selling features in North America, the service itself has struggled to get off the ground—it didn’t launch with the system, and it lacked the TiVo feature, which many folks rely on to watch their programming around a busy lifestyle.
While Nintendo had been insisting that TiVo would be available in January 2013, it looks like we’re all going to have to wait a little longer—Nintendo has announced an extremely vague release date of “early 2013.”
And if that wasn’t enough of a delay for you, Google Maps and Street View have also hit the same snag; their releases are now listed as “first quarter of 2013,” instead of the original release window of January 2013.
This can’t be a good thing for the system’s slowed sales—but at the same time, better to take their time with these features than release a buggy product. Hopefully these delays will be resolved soon, so that the Wii U can take advantage of these features as selling points alongside the upcoming game releases.
