If you’re still sore about Rayman Legends being delayed until September, or about it no longer being a Wii U exclusive, Ubisoft is trying to soothe your rage. They had announced that they would be bringing a second demo of the game to the Wii U eShop, but they’ve changed their minds and are taking an even bigger step: They’re going to release the Rayman Legends fill online challenge mode in April. For free.
And yes, it’ll be a Wii U eShop exclusive.
The Rayman Legends creative director, Michel Ancel, along with the senior game designer, Michael Micholic, released a video message to the fans on Facebook, which you can watch here. Notably, Micholic said:
“We just wanted to reach out and let you know how truly humbled we are by the outpouring of support from the community and fans about the announcement of the delay of Rayman Legends. It definitely hurt us to see you guys so upset about the delay.”
The video also shows off a bit of the online challenge mode, and players will be able to participate in daily and weekly multiplayer challenges. Up to five players will be able to play at once, along with online leaderboards and downloadable “ghost” NPCs for players to challenge.
And according to Ancel, the extra development time will be used to upgrade the game even further, with new bosses, characters, and possible a few additional levels—despite the fact that the game is, at this point, literally completed.
