LEGO The Hobbit Confirmed for 2014

In a move that surprises no one, Warner Bros. has gone ahead and confirmed that LEGO The Hobbit will be released in 2014, and will be available for Wii U and 3DS. The game will be based on the first and second films in the trilogy for The Hobbit (or, some of us might prefer to say, “the first two thirds of the book”): An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug.

Players will have the opportunity to select their favourite character from the series to journey through Middle Earth with, including: Bilbo, Bofur, Bombur, Balin Bifur, Dori, Dwalin, Fili, Gloin, Gandalf, Kili, Nori, Ori, Oin, and Thorin. Each character will have their own special ability, allowing them to take the lead in special ways throughout the levels.

Players will also recognize many locations in the game (ie. from the film, ie. from the book), such as Rivendell, Bag End, and the Misty Mountains.

Who’s looking forward to visiting a LEGO version of The Hobbit? And who’s feeling slightly gipped that there’s no playable Gollum? Heh.
