Dr. Luigi on the Way to Wii U

During the Nintendo Direct presentations yesterday, it was announced that Dr. Luigi is an upcoming title for the Wii U eShop, undoubtedly a way for Nintendo to get in one last blast for the Year of Luigi before heading into another year of plain ol’ Mario.

Dr. Luigi is based (of course) on the classic puzzler game Dr. Mario, and will be played the same way. However, this game will have an original mode called “Operation L,” where the pills are L-shaped. Because this means two capsules are fused into one, it looks like it may actually be a little easier—but we’ll have to wait and see!

Germ Buster mode is included in this one (holding the GamePad vertically, using the touchscreen to drag the pills!), and also a Dr. Mario mode.

There will be several difficulty levels and attack settings in multiplayer games, which you’ll be able to play both locally and online. The game launches on December 31st in the Wii U eShop for $14.99.

So, who’s going to be spending their New Year’s with friends playing Dr. Luigi?
