Next Mario Game Being Worked On… For Which System?

Nintendo producer Yoshiaki Koizumi is being a little coy with us these days… in an interview with EDGE about the making of Super Mario 3D World, he revealed that work has already started on a new Super Mario game—but he won’t say anything about which console it’ll be found on:

“That’s still a secret! I can tell you, though, that we’ve already started approaching our next challenge. There’ still a lot more room for discovery and invention, and we’ll continue to propose new and exciting game mechanics for going into the future.”

Clearly it’ll be quite awhile before we ever see a new game—we’re still riding the wave of Super Mario 3D World right now—but EAD Tokyo team leader Kenta Motokura did mention that should there be a new game set for the Wii U, they’d definitely need to use the GamePad even more effectively than they have so far.

What does that mean? Who knows! At least we know for sure there’s more Mario on the way… not that there was ever any doubt.
