This week saw Nintendo’s 74th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, where it was announced that over the past month since its’ release, Mario Kart 8 has officially sold a remarkable two million copies of the game.
In addition, sales of the Wii U hardware have risen globally (though not in Japan, where sales have dropped quickly after Mario Kart 8’s release). This is welcome news for investors, especially in the wake of Nintendo President Satoru Iwata’s absence from the meeting as he recovers his health.
The news, while first leaked by meeting attendees, has since been officially confirmed by Genyo Takedo who spoke on behalf of Iwata-san.
