Cubemen 2 Coming September 4th

Australian developer Nnooo has been working on Cubemen 2 for the Wii U for quite some time now… the game’s sales pitch at the moment is that it will have cross-platform multiplayer options and level creation, which is a bit groundbreaking to say the least. The game’s core will have players control a Cubeman army across blocky levels, essentially functioning as an RTS title.

The game will feature a single-player campaign, though the additional modes can technically be played solo—and five out of seven game modes support online multiplayer. The multiplayer is connected cross-platform, so you’ll have a much better chance of finding other players to game with, as this includes Linux, Mac, PC, and iOS.

With the level editor, Wii U players will have the ability to play the 8000+ levels created by players on other platforms—you’re not limited to the levels created on your primary platform of choice for playing the game.

Nnooo’s Nic Watts has a few things to say about this remarkable level of cross-platform play:

“Cubemen 2 is not just a fantastic game, it’s breaking new ground for an indie game on a Nintendo console. We already know Nintendo players love to create and share amazing artwork and creations in Miiverse. Now they can create levels, share them and battle with other players across multiple platforms! This is great, not only for Nintendo gamers, but for gaming in general.”

And before you even start asking, yes, the game will have GamePad / touchscreen support, so it’ll be intriguing to see how it plays out on the system. Keep an eye out for this one, and watch the trailer below in the meantime.
