E3 2015: The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes

Nintendo has given us a new Zelda game to get excited about! The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes is a 3DS title that was revealed during the Digital Event yesterday, and which brings us back to the previous days of Zelda co-op. This is 3-player adventure, however, using the Link Between Worlds game engine and directed by the same gentleman, Hiromasa Shikata.

The game will feature players working together as they move through dungeons, solve puzzles and overcome obstacles. The “Totem” mechanic is the big addition here, where players stand on each other’s shoulders to defeat enemies and puzzles. This is also the reason why it’s only a 3-player co-op game—according to Shikata, four players was too tall when it came to creating the totems.

The game will also support solo play (with CPU characters), online play, and have different outfits for skills and so forth. Each stage will theoretically offer a different play-through experience depending on what outfits you’re wearing.

The game will be hitting handhelds this fall!

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
