Yes, Samus Will Be In Metroid Prime: Federation Force

You might call the reaction to the announcement of Metroid Prime: Federation Force during E3 this year, uh… negative. Somewhat. Okay, a lot. In fact, some fans of Metroid even circulated a petition for the cancellation of the game—that’s how angry they were. With  over 22,000 signatures on the petition, it’s clear that Metroid fans are not too keen on the direction their precious franchise is taking.

However, a recent interview with Nintendo’s Kensuke Tanabe (http://www.cgmagonline.com/articles/the-future-of-metroid-prime/) revealed a little more about the negative reaction to the game’s announcement:

“First off, I had in mind and expected that people would sort of act in a negative way when they find out that Samus was not an actual player. What I see happening is that once the players can actually have hands-on experience with the actual game, they’ll be able to understand and experience for themselves how the game actually feels and that the Metroid Prime universe atmosphere is there, and the music that is used in the game is also heavily related to the Prime series of course so while people would at first say, “oh this isn’t what I expected,” they’ll definitely understand the different perspective that we’re taking here and it’ll certainly make a difference once you get some experience with the game.”

So yes, Samus definitely won’t be a playable character in-game. But it’s not like she won’t make an appearance at all:

“That’s for sure. You will see her in some way. I feel like that’s something nice about this game. It’s kind of like a mix.”

Whether this changes your mind or feelings about the upcoming Metroid instalment, that’s another question entirely.
