Nintendo 2DS Price Drop in North America

What’s that you hear? Oh, that’s just the sound of Nintendo slashing a whopping $30 off the recommended retail price for their Nintendo 2DS handheld console.

Say what? Yes indeed, the price will drop to $99.99 as of August 30th, and you still get all the bells & whistles—er, namely, Mario Kart 7 which will still be included when you buy the system.

According to Scott Moffitt, the Executive VP of Sales & Marketing for Nintendo of America, the price drop is designed to boost the sales of Little Battlers eXperience:

At a suggested retail price of $99.99, Nintendo 2DS is an even more attractive introductory option for first-time gamers. The new lower-priced hardware combined with the strong lineup of new games launching this year and arguably the best library of games in this generation makes it a great time to be a Nintendo fan.”

While the 2DS lacks the auto-stereoscopic functionality of the 3DS, the 2DS is now the lowest-cost way for players and consumers to dip their toes in the water of Nintendo’s handheld console games.

Dave will tell you that he likes to play video games, this is in fact a lie. What he really likes to do is buy games, and leaving them sitting unopened on his shelf. He is a monster.
