Axiom Verge Headed to Wii U

Fans of Metroid and Contra, listen up—Axiom Verge is coming to the Wii U later this year, and you want to play it. No, seriously.

The game was developed by Thomas Happ, who produced it by himself over the course of several years, and whose work on it has been critically acclaimed and lauded by many reviewers and critics.

In fact, the game was published on the PSN and assisted in its journey by none of than Dan Adelman, who Nintendo fans will recognize as the former Nintendo of America “indie” games guy.

Here are some details on this upcoming Wii U and 3DS title:

Axiom Verge is a retro-style action-platform-exploration game done in a 16-bit style and was heavily influenced by games like Metroid, Contra, Blaster Master, and other classics, but with very modern design sensibilities. It also gives you power over glitches like those found in classic games, allowing you to scramble enemies, corrupt environments, and enter hidden areas as you explore this hostile alien world and uncover your role within it.

– Over 80 creatures
– Almost 1000 rooms
