New Nintendo 3DS Officially Discontinued

The New Nintendo 3DS has seen a decent amount of success, though the XL version has been the one to really rock the sales charts—especially considering that the smaller version didn’t really arrive in North America “officially” until last year in limited edition models. The XL sold more than 10 million units as of the sales data released last March, with only 2.49 million units of the smaller New Nintendo 3DS sold.

And now, with the New 2DS XL about to launch, Nintendo has officially discontinued the smaller version of the New Nintendo 3DS, both in Japan and Europe. In North America, it was technically a discontinued product after the limited edition releases in November 2016, but either way, it feels like an early end to this little system’s lifespan.
